Concerning Words

Anyone can create, anyone can destroy.
Thoughts, written or verbal
Come to those who listen.
Hearing, interpreting, comprehending
Is challenging to all the world.
More than mothers can create
And more than guns can destroy.
Just once is all it takes,
One misplaced listen.
As does happen,
A fleeting moment changes the outcome.
How many more will come,
Destroying ties and weakening bonds?
Good timing and placement
Brings about greater reactions and deeper smiles.
Good and bad, healthy and harmful,
Nothing but opposites co-existing
In a paradoxical world.
When will this riddle end?

  • I hope that this riddle will never end..as we continue to learn when to hold a tongue, utter only silence, hum a thought or whisper a hug..actions may define words, but words that stand alone work for both sides..good and evil. It is for the receiving end to determine what to do with the unrendered word.
